Zao Fureai Ranch Heartland

Zao Heartland is a vast ranch of about 100 hectares (20 times the size of Tokyo Dome) where cows and sheep are raised.

Inside the ranch, there is a corner where visitors can directly interact with animals, “Wind Square,” a coffee shop serving cheese dishes, “Wind Deck,” a Genghis Khan house, and a handcrafting experience center (reservations required).

In addition, there is a Zao cheese souvenir shop, so visitors can enjoy themselves all day long.

At the hands-on museum, visitors can enjoy making cheese, butter, sausages, and ice cream using milk.

However, depending on the experience, reservations are required at least three days or one week in advance, so please check in advance.

Next to the cheese factory, there is a direct sales store where cheese, dairy products, and local specialties made at the factory are sold. Homemade ice cream and the original drink “Mork” are also popular. Sweets handmade in the factory’s on-site sweets workshop are also available for purchase.

At the barbecue house “Wind Deck,” visitors can enjoy Zao beef and Zao pork with special homemade sauce. Visitors can spend a special moment in the nature of the highlands, enjoying the bold flavor of barbeque meat.
