The only national park in Tohoku located on the lakeside of Kamabusa Dam. The park is divided into three areas: the “South Area” with large flowerbeds and flower gardens, large playground equipment, and old houses from six prefectures in Tohoku; the “North Area” with campgrounds, a dog run, and various sports facilities; and the “Satoyama Area” where visitors can experience the nature and culture of a satoyama (mountainous area). Various events are held throughout the year to provide visitors with a full day of fun.
Furusato Village in the South District
In the Furusato Village, old private homes from six prefectures in the Tohoku region have been relocated to create a nostalgic rural landscape. Inside the old houses, panels, old folk tools, and other exhibits introduce the culture of each prefecture. Various events are held on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays.
Located on the lakeside of Kamabusa Dam, this is the only national park in the Tohoku region. The park is divided into three areas: the North Area, the South Area, and the Satoyama Area, each of which offers a variety of experiences.
Flowers bloom throughout the park in each of the four seasons, and events are held throughout the year.
The park is also a popular spot for visitors from inside and outside of the prefecture to interact with animals, harvest vegetables, camp, and learn about nature, making them want to go back again and again.
The park covers a vast area divided into the south and north districts, complete with flower gardens, campgrounds, and other facilities. Recommended for children is “Warasuko Hiroba” in the south district. In a space inspired by Jomon design, children from infants to elementary school students can play to their heart’s content on the giant trampoline “Jumping Donut,” roller sliders, and other playground equipment. At the “Lakeside Plaza,” also in the south area, a giant ball is very popular with children, and boats (closed from December to February) and inline skates can also be rented.
Seven major floral landscapes from season to season
With the Zao mountain range as a backdrop, the large flower beds of Sai-no-hiroba, where visitors can enjoy the colors of the four seasons, are the center of the park’s seasonal flowers and plants. In spring, the park is decorated with tulips, approximately 220,000 nanohana (nanohana) and over 1,000 cherry trees, in early summer to summer, approximately 2 million poppies and sunflowers, and in autumn, cosmos and kochia all over the park.
