Shiroishi Castle was the southern strategic point of the Sendai domain until it was dismantled in 1874. After the Battle of Sekigahara, the castle was the residence of the Katakura clan, the chief vassal of the Date family, for more than 260 years until the Meiji Restoration. Also known as Masuoka Castle.
In memory of the great deeds of KATAKURA Kojuro Kagetsuna, the famous one-armed man of Date Masamune, the three-story tower (castle tower) and the Ote 1 and 2 gates have been faithfully restored to their original state.
Shiroishi Castle is also the site of seasonal events. The Zao mountain range can be seen to the west, and the cool breeze blowing through makes you forget the summer heat for a moment.
It is fun to enjoy yourself as if you were the lord of the castle.
