The “My Kaisen Don” and “Jiyu Yaki-Ro” are very popular, where you can taste the seafood you purchased on the spot!
The market is one of the largest in the Tohoku region, offering fresh seafood and a wide variety of ingredients. The sales floor area is 4,950 square meters and there are 100 stores.
Although the market is stocked by professional connoisseurs, ordinary customers can also purchase at wholesale prices.
Shiogama Port boasts one of the largest fresh tuna landings in Japan, and there are as many as 25 tuna specialty stores in the market. Visitors can purchase fresh tuna, and if they are lucky, they can watch the powerful sight of a large tuna being dismembered right in front of them.
Especially from September to December, bigeye tuna that meet strict requirements are certified as “Higashi-mono” brand tuna, allowing visitors to enjoy even tastier tuna.
There are five eating places in the site. After purchasing seafood, you can buy rice at the My Kaisen-don corner and make your own original Kaisen-don by topping it with rice. At Jiyu Yaki Oven, you can grill and eat your purchased seafood as you like.
Opening hours vary from store to store, but we recommend that you visit in the morning. More stores tend to close after noon.
